AI Study Group: November 2024

Our very own Krystyna Ambroch and Guy Marshall spoke this month about their work in progress, a Campion grant project on the topic of Analysis of public reviews of housing providers in Manchester, using Natural Language Processing AI . More can be seen about the Campion grants here.

Attendees had a first presentation of initial results of this study, including the dataset created and the analytical methods used. Members of the audience were members, but also included several with Social Housing experience. Feedback was free-flowing, resulting in several comments and lines of inquiry being incorporated in the report.

In some sense, this meeting felt more like the original Manchester Statistical Society meetings. Research had taken place on a topic the society felt was important, and debate resulted in further research to increase impact and rigour.

After the meeting, several weeks more work took place, resulting in a draft report which was submitted to the Campion Committee for approval. Detailed feedback was given by Council Member and Housing specialist Thomas Hague, which was incorporated into the report. The final report will be made available in early 2025.
